Birth Support with Ken McGee

I approach birth from one simple perspective: YOU ARE AMAZING.

I know that your STRENGTH will see through whatever pregnancy may bring.

This unwavering FAITH in you is paired with my physical therapy background to optimize your experience.

I take on only a small number of clients to ensure that I am readily available whenever you need me.

I am a good match if you...

  • Desire highly skilled support for coping techniques, positioning for labor progression, and pushing
  • Have complex orthopedic issues, such as sciatica, pubic symphysis pain, sacroiliac joint pain, or low back pain
  • Are experiencing a high-risk pregnancy or one with many challenges
  • Have mental health conditions, such as depression, bipolar, and anxiety
  • Are planning a low-intervention vaginal delivery, an induction, Cesarean, or vaginal birth after Cesarean (VBAC)
  • Want someone to advocate for respect of your gender and/or family identity

A little about my birthing philosophy

  • I believe fiercely in the autonomy of birthing people
  • I believe in your ability to make the choices that are right for your gestation
  • I will sit with you both through the ups and downs that inevitably come with any gestation
  • I support the full range of a person’s reproductive options
  • I value families of all types: single by choice, non-monogamous, polyamorous, and beyond

Why pick a physical therapist for birth support?

As a physical therapist, I have a large toolbox for supporting you through pregnancy, birth, and beyond. Want to know what exercise to try in order to prepare for labor? I have you covered. Got questions on low back pain or round ligament pain? I have proven treatment interventions to help you feel better (I can also fill you in on the best support braces). Struggling with clogged milk ducts postpartum? I’m trained to help!

If you're a person who has lots of questions, I can't wait to provide you with knowledge and strategies. I love education and helping people get the most out of their experience gestating.

Infant Feeding

I work with people with wide ranging goals for infant feeding. Some want help stopping milk production after baby is born, while others want to focus on optimizing milk supply. I understand that families, and especially queer families, may have goals that involve sharing infant feeding between caregivers. I am a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist, with over 100 hours of training in lactation. Services:

  • Education on milk production and inhibition (if desired)
  • Education on infant feeding at body and with bottle
  • Education on comfortable positioning
  • Transgender and queer lactation and infant feeding

I offer infant feeding support as part of my doula package, and also as an individual service. Click here to book an Infant Feeding Support Session.
